"instead, i rose from the ash like a Phoenix"

Kanye West debuted his new short film Runaway on MTV Saturday evening. i missed the beginning of the film but u can certainly bet that i found it online and watched the whole thing in its entirety!! 

i was nothing short of speechless

while watching the video i realized that the songs and scenes were all a part in Kanye's life that had impacted him in one way or another.  it isn't exactly in chronological order but i am a SERIOUS Kanye fanatic!! so i caught most of the imagery.  

the film opens up with Kanye frantically running from a fire in the distance.. i got this to symbolize him running from his past, his mother's death, the taylor swift incident, his break up with Alexis Fifer and amber Rose, his old style of music, and his old ways.  

as he drives up this long winding road (life) he gets hit with the Phoenix and rescues her

the Phoenix roams around in his backyard as if to be reborn

he shows her etiquette and coaxes her on how to be a civil person in society much like he had to coax himself and humble himself after the downfall of his career

the dinner scene, the man next to Kanye asks him if he notices that his girlfriend is a "bird" .. i took that as when he was dating Amber Rose and everybody kept calling her a video hoe and a whore like he didn't know about her past.  i thought that was an interesting tidbit in the film 

he then goes on to perform one of his latest hit singles Runaway Love with an epic ballet performance .. the song Runaway Love made me think about how he realized his mistakes and how he doesn't want to bring anyone down with him.  he wants "her" to runaway from him as fast as she can.  

he also adresses all of the "Douche bags" and "a**holes" that he surrounded himself with that he believed were his friends (people at the table)

this was a scene that went over my head until i watched it a few times.  the dinner begins after Kanye's performance and they're decorating the table with various different foods.  the main course was a turkey, which the Phoenix identified with as one of her own, she began screaming in terror and disgust and everyone left the table leaving Kanye with the screeching Phoenix and the dead bird.  

the dead bird represented his mother, the late Donda West and the Phoenix's screech was his 4th album 808s and Heartbreaks which, though it went gold, was his worst selling album.  the people running away from the table represented the masses that hated the album. thus leaving Kanye alone with his own thoughts and the reality of the death of his mother staring him in the face. 

after the Phoenix and Kanye talk about the things that went on, she decides that in order for her to go back to normal, she must burn.  Kanye doesnt want her to go but he knows that she has to.  much like his career, he had to look inside of himself and decide that it was time for him to start over and rise from the ashes.  

after she burns it leaves the "new" Kanye West alone, risen from the ashes 

i thought that this concept was freaking GENIUS !! aside from the fact that i am in love with everything that Kanye does, he is truly an artist and a visionary.  he is an artist in every aspect of the word and i will be buying 4 copies of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy along with the other artists on his label G.O.O.D. Music that will be dropping their albums around the same time.  

i'm soooooo glad that Kanye is back and in full effect because i was really afraid for him.  

but i knew that this was going to happen, after the whole taylor swift nonsense threatened to ruin his career, he rose from the ashes just like a Phoenix.
